It begins, or continues... getting ready to sell the house

We talked to realtors and they advised to list in March so we have a month to get the house ready.
I have a lot of anxiety of having pictures of the house on the internet.  I'm worried about having people come in and decide they don't want to buy my house.  It's like dating or something.

We have a beautiful lot and I think someone is going to love and buy our house.  It's stressful.

Warm and the Oregon Trail

The weather has swung back to gloriously warm.  I love living in a place where it is never cold for more than a week.

At homeschool group I am teaching a class about the Oregon Trail.  I was inspired by a radio program where a teacher led her school class in this project in a city.  They walked in the city an used DnD tactics to simulate the challenges of the Oregon Trail a la the video game.

I was planning to teach the 9-12 year old class and at the last minute picked up the 6-8 year old class also.  They are so different.  I'm having fun working with 2 age groups though.  I get to teach each of the 3 peas and make sure they have a good experience. Duck-Duck-Goose is so funny with the 6-8 year old class.  With the 9-12 class it is more dangerous because they are so fast.

I plan to wear my garb each week.  Yesterday as the older children bought the supplies for their Adventure I explained that these were my Thursday clothes because back in those days you only had a few sets.

We're having fun.

cold!

The weather turned cold on us Saturday.  M and I went to the yard sale for the band.  We were volunteering and shopping rather than selling this year.  It was super cold but a much more pleasant experience.

We got a newer small car last week.  It took 4 trips to the tax collector's office to get it registered to us.  There was a hiccup with the insurance.  I don't do this super often but I was surprised that it was this difficult.  The car was surrendered to a mechanic because the repair bill was more than the owner wanted to pay.  So the repair man paid the bill, finished the repairs and sold it to us.  We're so grateful that we got it.  It's the nicest small car we've ever had and we've had lots of experience not getting the good deal, and getting a lemon instead.

We're filling out G's mission papers!  G also has an appointment next week to see about getting a 2nd CI.  This is a very busy time!

Winter Trip 2022-2023

Right before we left for our trip there was a polar vortex with freezing temperatures here in FL.  Thankfully things warmed as we went north.  Our first stop was to visit the cousins.  My brother and his wife let us borrow their RV.  We had such a nice time chatting with them and the cousins played.  I'm so glad we've been able to see their family often over the years.

We stopped in Little Rock to take in a science museum then on to Bentonville.  The camp site we stayed in had the same name as another one in another state.  I had called ahead to check on the gate code (none) and laundry.  The one in the other state had open amenities, but not the one we stayed in.  The one we stayed in did have this lovely hike down to the lake and the kids really loved skipping slate.

Bentonville has an amazing children's museum, library, and playgrounds.

Fayetteville has a sweet old school arcade, massive library, and small town feel.  It also has a lot of hills!

We went ice skating in Fayetteville.

Madison (suburb of Huntsville AL) was nice.  We got to attend several wards there so we saw how enthusiastic people were to serve, and the youth, and choir.  The kids liked the library and enjoyed the rides at the rocket museum.

We caught a cold early in the trip and as it rolled through everyone we decided to come home 1 day early.  It is good to be home.
